The purpose of this website is to discuss the importance of developing a sound global mindset to succeed in business in a more globalized world.
Global mindset is a relatively new concept. In a world that is becoming more globalized and complex each day it is important not only to understand what global mindset is but how one can develop it. It is important for managers and future leaders to have an understanding of global issues in order to engage appropriately when dealing with intercultural communication. The increasingly competitive global marketplace requires more a complex approach to global strategy and global talent management. Therefore, to truly achieve global success global managers should have these two important skills: global mindset and cultural intelligence.
“A global mindset helps leaders see the world from multiple perspectives, make decisions that work both locally and globally, and increases the ability of their company to compete in the global marketplace” (Boyacigiller, 2012). Whereas by having cultural intelligence one is capable of adapting effectively to new cultural contexts (Al & Chen 2011).
